Stayed for 4 days and the weather was beautiful one day and perfect the next.
Out door dining can easily be set up upon request.
Low tide every afternoon was just gorgeous to watch. The mountains in the background gave a sense of warmth. swimsuit by ACACIA - www.acaciaswim.com, necklace from Barcelona

The Great Barrier Reef cruise is a two hour ride from Hayman Island at $200 per person. Once you arrive to Knuckle Reef, staff provide snorkeling and scuba diving equipment, there is a submarine and water slide off the Pontoon. You're out on the reef from about 11.30am -3pm.  A complete MUST DO when visiting the Whit Sundays. Lunch and afternoon tea is catered for.
View from the submarine.

Early morning kayaking - this was around 8am.

Arriving to Hayman Island from Los Angeles was one long trek. I flew Virgin Australia to Sydney, from Sydney I flew Virgin Blue to Hamilton Island and from Hamilton Island I got a boat to Hayman.
It's the minute you land on Hamilton Island where there is a Hayman desk full of friendly, polite staff welcoming you and guiding you onto the bus that takes you to the wharf, that you recognize the Hayman exclusive treatment.  The Hayman staff collect your luggage for you and you don't see your suit cases till you check in to your room on the island.
Once on the wharf, you hop on a boat where Hayman staff serve you with fresh orange juice, champagne and water. For nibbles on this 1 hour boat ride, you receive a tray of Hayman island made treats. Small bites of a savory cheese pie, cookies and the little bites of heaven chocolates.  (There is a chocolate chef room on the island).
Once you are arrive on the island, you have a mini bus waiting for you and it's a 3 minute ride to the hotel.  You are dropped off in the lush gardens where Hayman staff greet you with a fresh made pineapple and passion fruit drink and one member of staff walks you to your room and a long the way explains where restaurants, spas and shops are located.

Everything on the island is at your door step, activities are helicopter and plane rides over the reef, swimming, catamarans and kayaking, plus bush walking. Because you don't need to jump in a car and explore around, you are really Forced to de-compress and relax.
Hayman was soothing, non pretentious and relaxing. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was divine and treatment felt genuine.   I would return here again and give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
On my last night, I was handed a departure itinerary and was told to be in the lobby at 8.30am to get a boat back to Hamilton Island. You leave your luggage in the room and it's collected for you and placed on the boat.  My flight was at 3pm from Hamilton Island to Brisbane. I do feel it was inconvenient for me to spend all day at Hamilton Island airport, especially when I saw other Hayman Island guests arrive on a later boat and board their 2pm flights. There was no need for me to rush in the morning and leave Hayman at 8.30am for a 3pm flight. Other than that, a wonderful place to visit and catch up with loved ones. Jlr :)
